Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli
arrayed in night with spear and armored fierce
stout and good of noble blood
and never could he flee
as sky above the dawn did pierce

The solar orb above did sail
Tonatiuh
the sun was high, infernal lord of heat
supreme head of fire so pale
king from above
and with a roar the dawn and day did meet

Tonatiuh he spoke aloud
his voice atomic fire
"what candle fickers in the night below?
a firefly's light, I do not doubt
would make a greater flare
so bow before the king of high and low"

Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli saw
Tonatiuh above
but the Dawn Lord would not kneel
"no orb of plasma is my master
and never did I love to bow my head
instead my blade you'll feel"

"Listen boy you best take heed"
the fang'd sun he spoke
"for I am lord of all I see and hear
my solar flares will scorch your flesh
and dash to dust your hopes
and songbirds in your skull will sweetly nest"

Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli heard
and raised his head up high
the sun's golden challenge to rebuff
"I'll see you fall like shot-down-birds
and when you're fully dead
then dawn shall be bright as day above"

Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli hurled
his spear into the void
to slay the proud Tonatiuh
the spear it sailed, the clouds unfurled
the light blinded his eyes
the Dawn Lord laughed into the sun

Proud words in the house of the dawn
fire and blood in the house of the dawn

Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli stood
and gazed at heaven above
but the sun yet soared and blazed
gravity did turn that blade
and plunging like a dove
it struck the Dawn Lord flat between the eyes

Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli fell
"I am killed" he cried
the fang'd king of atomic has won
and in the sky, the light it swelled
Tonatiuh replied:
"no wise man shoots arrows at the sun"

Struck down in the house of the dawn (x4)

The Dawn Lord changed his face and form
pierced eyes cannot see
and northern snow and cold are now his home
blind and black and just and grim
